This talk will set out the Sounds of Intent framework of musical development, and describe the new resources – Count Me In! – that presents 12 projects, each with a bank of freely downloadable audio resources suitable for learners with different musical abilities and interests. Examples with be shown of how to use the resources in mixed ability classes.

Come and take part in an interactive West African African Djembe Drumming workshop with James Carr from Drum Devon. Learn how to play a traditional West African rhythm and see how you can incorporate these fun, accessible musical activity into your music, geography and PHSE curriculums.
Ruth Molins & Alex Wilson (Live Music Now) introduce a practical approach to ensemble music-making in a mixed-ability classroom. Count Me In! is a set of resources designed to enable pupils with complex needs to participate meaningfully in group music making. Whilst designed for special schools, it can equally provide a way into ensemble playing for primary-age children, using a range of resources including found materials and classroom percussion alongside other instruments and singing.
The workshop will enable teachers to start using the resources to create a whole class ensemble in which every child plays a meaningful role based on their skills.
Paul Wilson, Co- Founder and Community Musician and Jenny Read, Community Musician, Wren Music deliver this active music making workshop illustrating the successful delivery model established by Wren Music working with Plymouth Music Education Hub in SEN/D and SEBD schools. Demonstrating how we engaged all staff in this music project that was safe and fun, and how it can be translated to all schools.
Facilitated by Mike Simpson, Inspire-Works’ Musical Director, this CPD session shows participants rhythms inspired by many cultures across the globe which can all sound great on instruments found at the bottom of a long-neglected music trolley.

Max will introduce the revolutionary and inclusive software, outlining how it was explicitly designed for educational settings and can be used for composition projects – particularly those who have never used music software.
Learn how to compose video in the cloud, compose new styles of music, and share award-winning supporting resources explicitly made for secondary students on styles like Grime, Pop, and House. YuStudio and the wider Charanga platform it sits on, allow students to work on music at home and enables teachers to monitor their work and progress. A practical workshop for primary and secondary teachers based on creating music from the local environment, inspired by maps, objects and observations of natural features and phenomena. Landscapes and Seascapes is a Sonopera®CIC project funded by Ivy Education Trust, while A Sense of Place is funded by Devon and Torbay - both projects take a cross-curricular approach to creating music.
During the autumn term, eight secondary schools across Devon and Torbay had the valuable opportunity to work with Mark Phillips, formerly Senior HMI and Ofsted's National Lead for Music, and Hub colleagues, as part of the Developing Ambitious School Music programme. As part of this session, secondary colleagues will explore the themes that emerged from Mark's visits and share their learning from this initiative.
