Attendance improvement

Our Attendance Improvement Service supports schools in achieving higher levels of attendance for the whole school as well as for individual pupils by:

  • Providing strategic advice supporting policy and operational practice within schools
  • Offering advice and training on the evaluation and effective use of attendance data
  • Progressing a clear escalation process to encourage improvement
  • Instigating an effective legal process to address parental responsibility

Note: we are taking expressions of interest only at the moment for attendance improvement consultancy days, due to the new guidance and Attendance Improvement Officers implementing the new attendance strategies, as we need to prioritise the core offer from the Local Authority.  This will be reviewed after the New Year.

Never has it been more important for us across Devon to work together in the best interests of our young people to promote the importance of attendance to school. Simply by doing this, we will reduce the risk open to the most vulnerable and improve the life chances and future opportunities of our young people.

Join us at the Devon attendance conference on 18th June 2026 to build our knowledge to support children and young people to feel safe to attend school.
