Devon County Council is a leader in education, inclusion and support services working with more than 2000 schools, academies, MATs, settings and other business sectors across the UK. Our focus is to deliver cost-effective, up-to-the-minute services that enable schools, settings, families, and other organisations to have continued access to high-quality services that support the progress and attainment of our children and young people.
To place orders and to access all areas of the site, you will need to have registered for a user account. If you have not already done so, setting up an account is really easy and will only take a couple of minutes. Your school or setting is most likely already set up in our system, so all you need to do is create your own personal account. Your account will automatically be linked to your school/setting (where relevant) and if your school/setting has purchased any whole-site online learning courses, you will find these automatically added to your online learning tab.
Early Help is the extra support your family can get if you need it. It may be that you want to prevent a problem, or change things for your family before the problem becomes more serious.
It is not a specific service or team, it’s an approach that brings together people from a range of services and teams who will work together with your whole family to help improve the situation for everyone.
It can offer support to families from pre-birth to adolescents with all sorts of issues from parenting, employment and school attendance to emotional wellbeing or anti-social behaviour.

DiAS (Devon Information Advice and Support) has a dedicated team offering legally-based and easily accessible information and advice about special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We support children and young people with SEND and their parents, carers. Our service is impartial, confidential and free.
On our website you will find out more about us and lots of information for parent carers and young people about a wide range of SEND topics. We deliver tailored training sessions for parents about how to work effectively with professionals and on a range of SEND topics.
We work strategically with health, the local authority, schools and other services around SEND, participation and working effectively with families.
The school library service (SLS) works in partnership with school communities and provides the expertise to help raise reading standards.

Esteem Team are a Community Interest Company that work with children and young people who have additional needs and/or struggle with their mental health. We are made up of a range of professionals who care about children's and young peoples mental health. We want to create a safe and supported environment to allow them the chance to grow and reach their full potential. We are passionate about empowering, enabling and equipping children and young people so that whatever bumps in the road they face, they have their emotional strength, coping strategies and the support network to succeed.
Esteem Team also support Parent/Carers of children and young people with additional needs and/or who struggle with their mental health. We offer 1:1 support and group support tailored around each family.
The Educational Psychology service continues to balance the statutory requirements for Education Health and Care needs assessments with the demand for early intervention support. Educational Psychologists play a critical role in both areas, and while statutory assessments remain the highest priority, early intervention work contributes to inclusive school communities, as well as supporting children’s needs before they escalate.

Created and supported by our team of speech and language therapists, Speech and Language Link’s award-winning, online speech and language assessments, guided interventions, staff training and resources empower schools in their work with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
Our packages, available in annual subscriptions, support pupils aged 4-14 years. The robust assessments allow school staff to quickly screen **ALL** students; enabling early identification of SLCN. Our whole-school approach aims to ensure that no student falls under the radar, that those with severe needs are identified for discussions with specialists where appropriate and that EVERY student reaches their full potential.
Our aim is to do all we can to ensure all children in care to Devon enjoy their education, have access to the highest quality education provision and gain their best possible outcomes.
Although we are not a real school with buildings and classrooms, the Virtual School works as any school to provide support and interventions to help each child achieve their best and thrive on their educational journey.
We work with our young people, designated teachers in schools, social workers, carers, families and other professionals to ensure high aspirations and targeted support is the shared goal of everyone involved with the young person.

Some children and young people require special educational provision because they have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of the educational facilities generally provided. These difficulties can be age related and may fluctuate over time.
The sensory and physical team can provide support and training to ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010, which classifies disability as having a physical or mental impairment that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.
When children experience social and emotional difficulties, they may become withdrawn or isolated and may display challenging, disruptive or disturbing behaviour. Children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties will often feel anxious, scared and misunderstood.
Personal development and behaviour and attitudes are two of the four key judgements of the Ofsted framework, in which schools are required to provide evidence which demonstrates effective practice and the impact of improvement strategies and shows their children are able to learn.
Our SEMH support team is experienced and skilled in working with schools and settings to meet the needs of disadvantaged and at risk pupils. We offer a wide range of tailor-made support and intervention strategies to achieve Ofsted outcomes.

The Devon SpLD (Dyslexia) Service is provided by a team consisting of four qualified and experienced specialist SpLD (Dyslexia) teachers, who all work part time (total 1.8 teachers) across Devon.
We offer assessments, consultations and ‘Drop-in’ sessions to support, advise and guide schools and parents of children with severe and persistent specific literacy difficulties. We offer a variety of regular training opportunities through the Primary and Secondary Dyslexia Network meetings, as well as ongoing CPD opportunities for all staff in Devon schools.

Devon Music Education Hub believes all children and young people should be able to learn to sing, play an instrument and create music together, and have the opportunity to progress their musical interests and talent, including into a professional creative career.
We work with schools, music educators and a range of local, regional and national partner organisations to provide an inclusive, diverse and relevant music education offer for all children and young people.
As part of a network of Music Education Hubs across England, we are supported using public funding from the DfE and Arts Council England. We are tasked with delivering the vision, aims and strategic functions of the National Plan for Music Education. Devon Music Education Hub is led by Devon Education Services, part of Devon County Council.
