The early years consultants (EYCs) are all qualified teachers and experienced EYFS specialists with a range of knowledge across the EYFS curriculum and an understanding of the pedagogical approaches of early years teaching and learning
The early years team provide support, advice and challenge in the wide range of early years settings and schools across Devon and beyond, in relation to young children’s learning and development
The team also undertake the role of Area SENDCo to support SENDCos who are based in private, voluntary and independent settings and in preschool provision run by schools, including maintained nurseries, in Devon.

Talk Stars is an online, interactive communication and language intervention for 3-5 year olds.
Vocabulary is explicitly taught, by an adult modelling how to speak, and illustrated with photos. No staff training is required, and no preparation is needed. Children see themselves speak and hear how they actually sound.
Each lesson also contains a nursery rhyme to sing along to.

We provide continence promotion, and healthy bladder and bowel advice for children with additional needs. We see and assess children who are eligible for continence products because of a learning or physical disability. (Please see our service leaflet for children with additional needs).
We also advise parents, pre-schools and schools about specialist treatments, such as intermittent catheterisation and anal irrigation to help manage their children’s bladder and bowel.
Exeter Supply Partnership (ESP) is a not-for-profit supply service working with schools and nurseries across Devon. A non-commercial organisation, set up by schools for schools and managed by senior leaders from local schools, who guide and inform the running and development of the organisation. What is an EY South West Stronger Practice Hub?
The Stronger Practice Hubs programme was launched in November 2022 and is part of the DfE's Early Years Education COVID19 Recovery Package.
The programme aims to support settings to address the impact of the pandemic on young children by sharing effective practice and building lasting local networks.
What is the role of the EY South West Stronger Practice Hub?
The EY South West Stronger Practice Hub will support other early years settings and childminders to improve outcomes for all children across the EYFS. The EYSW Stronger Practice Hub will be focussing on areas of development that research has informed us have been most impacted by COVID19. As a hub, we will also analyse and collate data which has been submitted via the online form sent out to settings.
How will the EY SW Stronger Practice Hub Support Settings?
The EY SW Stronger Practice Hub will support settings by: Establishing local networks of settings to share evidence-based professional development for early years practitioners, proactively sharing information and advice on evidence-based approaches, share regular newsletters, blogs and updates on social media, acting as a point of contact for bespoke advice and signposting to other funded support, working with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) to select evidence-based programmes to find and make available to settings and childminders, provide free CPD opportunities linked to the needs of settings.

Sherborne Developmental Movement (SDM) is an inclusive approach to teaching and working with movement, grounded in Laban’s Movement Theory. It is inclusive and accessible to participants from 0 – 99 years of age. Trained SDM practitioners are able to adapt their skills to work with their own unique setting.
We are a charity that was established in the 1990s by a group of educationalists in the UK who had been taught by Veronica Sherborne. We are the only body in the UK, delivering the unique work created by Veronica Sherborne.
Our training program has been developed by an international panel of founding Sherborne practitioners. It was developed over a period of 8 years built on the original training developed after Veronica died, and in 2022, the new training program was delivered to 45 international Sherborne trainers. (IQCL - Internationally Qualified Course leaders).
SDM is suitable for use in the early years setting, primary classroom and with parents/carers as it enables the excellent opportunity to build relationships, strengthen bonds and enable the young child to feel “ at home “ in their body by gaining mastery of their body. SDM is particularly suitable for all age children with SEND.
