Curriculum review

The aim of this review tool is to support you to reflect on the design and effectiveness of your school’s curriculum, taking into account its impact on outcomes achieved by your pupils, the uniqueness of your school context, your community ambition, and your school’s vision.

The delivery of a meaningful and appropriately designed curriculum can be the driving force that accelerates the achievements of disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils, so they can achieve their full potential alongside their peers. The aim of this review tool is to support you to reflect on the design and effectiveness of your school’s curriculum, taking into account its impact on outcomes achieved by your pupils, the uniqueness of your school context, your community ambition, and your school’s vision.

The purpose of the whole school review undertaken by external expertise is to:

• Provide an external overview of your current strengths and areas for development, using our curriculum review tool
• Be a developmental process, which aims to provide school leaders, including governors, with clear guidance on next steps
• Fit with the cycle of continuous school improvement

The review can be repeated within the cycle of self-evaluation by school leaders. An education adviser can also facilitate later follow up reviews and provide a clear way to measure progress in effective curriculum development for school leaders.
