Caroline has spent a number of years working within education, most recently as Designated Safeguarding Lead at a large secondary school in Devon. She is knowledgeable and skilled at problem solving and finding solutions to challenging situations, both strategic and child/family centred. These skills have been used to superb effect when supporting DSLs through our mentoring/coaching offer. Caroline plays an active role in supporting the MASH research team, alongside representing education at a number of multi-agency meetings, including Modern Day Slavery and the Adolescent Safety Framework, where she has been involved in the Devon-wide role out of training in this area.

Caroline has clear sight of the complexities that DSLs are facing and can support schools by providing professional challenge through her creative and innovative skills. This pragmatic way of working supports leaders when undertaking Safeguarding reviews and other commissioned work, for example case audits to support reflective learning for individual schools. Caroline currently leads our section 175 audit return for schools in Devon having been proactive in listening to schools’ opinions and frustrations regarding safeguarding expectations. Due to the multi-agency networks, that she works alongside, Caroline will often be the voice of education colleagues and feed this information back to the appropriate people to try and inform change across Devon.
