The full day course will cover 4 modules:
- Understanding SLCN and DLD - an explanation of the different areas within speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), its prevalence and potential impact on learning, emotional wellbeing and life outcomes.
- Typical development and identification - focus on supporting schools to identify when language and communication skills are not following typical development patterns and the key indicators all teachers should be aware of.
- Supporting understanding - explore the different components of ‘understanding’ alongside practical strategies to support pupil’s receptive language in every lesson.
- Supporting talk - the importance of pupil talk and practical strategies to support expressive language across the school day.
