Introduction to governance for local or hub board members in academy schools (online or in person)

{{ category }}

This session provides an introduction for those new to governance and compliance and is tailored for those governing within an academy trust at any level within the trusts governance structures (Trust board, local board, hub board, advisory board or members).

We will talk about the role of school governance and consider the principles of corporate and strategic governance, delegation and confidentiality. We will specifically look at the trust board role and the delegations made to the local tier.  We will cover mandatory compliance and areas of risk management required to be considered by board members.  We will also consider the role of the local tier in advising the trust board, and the importance of clear communication up and down between all layers of trust governance.

The face to face session will provide you with the opportunity to pose questions and receive answers regarding the context of your trust, and network with others in different trusts and governing in different layers of academy trusts.
