KS2 statutory assessment training: writing assessment support

This series of three face-to-face sessions is designed to support teachers in securing accurate and consistent teacher assessment of writing. Each session focuses on a different aspect of the assessment process, and delegates may choose to attend one, two or all three sessions according to their needs.

Sessions will be delivered in person, with a choice of two venues:

  • The Future Skills Centre, Exeter
  • Caddsdown Business Support Centre, Bideford
Cost: £60 per person, per session.

 

1. Standardisation of writing at EXS and WTS

This session will cover:

  • securing understanding of the teacher assessment framework standards for EXS and WTS
  • opportunity to explore standardised collections (from STA)
  • secure understanding about STA guidance on independence, particular weakness and specific guidance on spelling/handwriting

2. Understanding and developing GDS writing

This session will cover:

  • securing understanding of the teacher assessment framework standards for GDS
  • opportunity to explore standardised collections (from STA) alongside your own pupils' writing
  • consider strategies for supporting potential GDS writers

3. Supported peer moderation of writing: borderline and tricky collections

This session will cover:

  • moderating writing with peers supported by a structured approach
  • exploring evidence required to secure the standard where pupils' writing is borderline
  • consider practical strategies to ensure that pupils secure standards before submission of data

 

You may choose to book onto a single session, any combination of two sessions, or attend all three sessions. Please ensure that you only book onto the session(s) you wish to attend.

The total cost for attending all three sessions is £180 per person.
