This session will be a hands-on workshop exploring practical strategies for removing barriers to participation in music.
Through active music-making and collaborative activities, delegates will experience adaptable approaches that support accessibility, inclusion, and engagement for all learners. Participants will leave with simple, effective ideas that can be applied immediately in classroom, instrumental and ensemble settings.

As the needs of children and young people continue to evolve, how can music education respond in ways that are meaningful, accessible, and sustainable? Chaired by Tom Deam (Devon Music Education Hub), this panel brings together perspectives from community, school, and music education providers across Devon. Through discussion and audience questions, the panel will explore barriers to participation, the role of belonging, and the practical steps needed to ensure every young person can access high-quality musical opportunities.
