Training for school staff involved in Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh Award type activities

These courses are intended for any school staff or volunteers who are involved in moorland walking/camping activities such as Ten Tors and DofE.  EVC's and heads for schools that participate in such activities are welcome to join so that they are aware of the responsibilities placed upon staff and the school.

This course is free to attend but only available to Devon and Torbay LA maintained schools and academies/independent schools that subscribe to the Devon Education Services, Off-Site Visits Advice Service.

Training objectives

  • The law relating to off-site visits such as moorland walking/camping
  • Roles and responsibilities within school and the LA
  • Required qualifications for different activities/terrain
  • Risk management and risk assessments
  • What to put on Evolve
  • What the LA will/won’t endorse
