Kathryn White

Kathryn White is a multi-published children’s author, with more than 35 books published across a wide range of subjects for children of all ages.

Her Ruby series with Barefoot Books has been translated into many languages as part of the Bilingual Books initiative. Ruby’s School Walk was shortlisted for the US Boston Globe Best Read-Aloud Picture Book Award. Here Comes the Crocodile, published by Little Tiger Press, was shortlisted for the Nottingham and Sheffield Children’s Book Awards. Her most recent title, Home for Grace, was shortlisted for the 2024 Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration and the West Sussex Picture Book to Shout About Award.

Kathryn has presented on writing for children at the University of Georgia, USA, and has taught creative writing in China and Europe. She has also presented her books at the Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Sheffield festivals, and regularly leads events in schools across the country. Active in the Save Our Libraries campaign, Kathryn promotes reading as essential to helping children develop empathy, confidence, and a lifelong love of books.
