Claire Barker has been fortunate enough to have lived in Devon for most of life, first in the south and then in the north. She creates her books in a shepherd's hut at the end of her buzzing, tweeting garden.
She is the author of two multi award-winning, middle-grade series; Knitbone Pepper Ghost Dog and Picklewitch and Jack. Claire has also illustrated her latest book Hettie Nettle's Handbook for Hedgewitches, described by Michael Morpurgo as 'a lovely book that will be much treasured.' She is a popular and inspirational visitor to schools, libraries and festivals, both nationally and internationally. Her themes are friendship, folklore, nature, magic and wild childhoods. Claire's mission is to encourage children's love of the natural world and foster a sense of belonging within it.
