Early Years and Childcare: Safeguarding and Child Protection Core (all early years and childcare practitioners)

The safeguarding awareness training is suitable for childminders and all those working in early years and childcare group-based settings (i.e.; assistants / apprentices/ volunteers). 

To recognise your role and responsibilities in safeguarding and protecting children, know what concerns to be alert to and how to raise them in line with local processes.

 

Important Information - This is an interactive course, and certification depends on your engagement. 

If you are attending a course that is being delivered virtually by Microsoft Teams, please ensure that you join the session by using a tablet, laptop or desktop device and not a mobile phone; mobile phones are not compatible with some of the content and the delivery methods and therefore you may not be certificated.

Training objectives

 

  • Understand the relevant Legislation, Statutory and Non-Statutory guidance’s, and how they underpin our daily practice to safeguard and protect children
  • Have an awareness of what may make children more vulnerable
  • Have an increased knowledge of different types of abuse and wider safeguarding concerns, and identify possible signs and symptoms
  • Be clear on allegations, the role of the LADO and whistleblowing
  • Gain knowledge of the local processes within Devon for reporting concerns
