Moorland camping leader training/assessment

People on this course should have previously registered for the SWMML training scheme and successfully completed the Moorland Walking Leader Assessment or hold the Walking Group Leader Award.

This is a 3 day training course which may incorporate an assessment, provided you have appropriate previous experience.

There are two options:

• To use this as a training course only or
• To complete both training and assessment within the 3 days, subject to prior experience.

Experience prior to the camping assessment should be equivalent to the Moorland Walking Leader and, in addition, should include:

• Camping experience of at least eight overnight expeditions. This experience should include multi-night camps and the use of stoves.
• A further 14 days of mountain or moorland experience.
• Experience of camping in poor weather conditions.
• Experience of leading or co-leading groups, perhaps in less demanding areas.
• Experience of more than one mountain or moorland area in the UK.
