Safeguarding Forums provide an invaluable opportunity for safeguarding leaders to stay informed, connected and confident within an ever-changing safeguarding landscape.
Join colleagues from a range of educational settings across the county to explore emerging safeguarding themes, receive key local and national updates, hear from partner agencies, and reflect on best practice. These forums offer a dedicated space to share experiences, discuss challenges, and strengthen safeguarding provision within your setting.
In this term's series of Education Safeguarding Forums, we will be sharing updates on, amongst other things, the KCSiE 2026 changes, Families First, the South & West MACPT Test and Learn Project, the new Information Sharing Duty, as well as OMG, Virtual School, and Children in Care and Care Leavers (CNiS) updates.
We are also pleased to welcome the following guest speakers:
Local PCSOs will be attending to provide locality-based contextual safeguarding information and updates.
Cary-Anne Ginns (EDEAS Team) will explore the latest data and trends relating to bullying, prejudice-related incidents, and racism, examining what these incidents tell us about the lived experiences of children and young people in Devon. Cary-Anne will consider the impact of discrimination and exclusion on wellbeing, attendance, engagement, and outcomes, and discuss practical actions schools and settings can take to strengthen inclusive practice, challenge prejudice, and foster a culture of belonging for all.
Vicki Whitehead (Assistant Director, Safeguarding, Quality Assurance, Performance and Partnerships) will be sharing what the new Information Sharing Duty means for schools and safeguarding partners.Training Objectives

- Understand updates to legislation, statutory guidance and national policy
- Learn from serious case reviews, thematic reviews and safeguarding practice reviews
